Dimitar Berbatov Blasts David James

Former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov has responded harshly to claims by David James through an Instagram post. The player posted a picture of himself on a plane heading back to his home country following the end of the Indian Super League season.

Berbatov stars for Kerala Blasters in the league with former Liverpool and Aston Villa goalkeeper James as the coach. The former England international finished his career in India and returned to lead the side from mid-season following the club’s contract termination of Rene Meulensteen.

The Blasters lost due to stoppage time goals by Bengaluru FC after 90 minutes of intense back and forth. At the post match conference, James said it was just that football is cruel for his side to not have gone through. He praised the defence of the opposition as a major factor in the game. The managers believes the strong defence and team spirit of Bengaluru FC can help them break the jinx of league stage winners not going on to be eventual champions of the ISL.

When asked about former Red Devils duo of Bernatov and Wes Brown, James said he was not sure if they would remain in India for the Super Cup. He added that he hopes the veteran stars remain. Obviously, Berbatov is not happy with the tactics of his coach and he took to his online page to rant, adding hash tags:

  • TimeToGoHome.Berbatov could only net once in nine games as the club finished in the sixth position in the tean team league. This is James’ first season as a manager so the Bulgarian appears to be taking a dig at James’ inexperience.
