Hugo Lloris asks Tottenham fans forgot their glorious past

Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris claims that it is time Tottenham fans forgot their glorious past that included players like Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane.

He has asked them to talk about the present and future. The Frenchman has been a major factor behind Spurs challenging for the title. He has been immense former club in every way since his move from Lyon a few years ago. Lloris’ quality has helped Tottenham gain reputation as the best defence in the Premier League. Previously, Spurs were seen as a team that can perform one day and get a thrashing on the other.

Lloris says that this has gone out of the game, as the club are now extremely consistent in getting result every week. It sees them within five points of catching Leicester City at the top of the table. Lloris admitted that the club has gone through some great players like Berbatov, Luka Modric, and Gareth Bale. However, it is time that fans give recognition to the current generation of names in the team. The likes of Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen, and Lloris have been influential in the club’s transformation from one of the top four contenders into a title challenger.

Mauricio Pochettino has been receiving a lot of credit for transforming Spurs in the space of 24 months. “I remember in my first few years with Tottenham I used to speak with people working in the club or the fans. They used to live in the past. Through some great players like Luka Modric, Gareth Bale, (Dimitar) Berbatov, Robbie Keane. Now if you compare they are talking about now and the future. That’s happened because now I think we can show identity on the pitch. We have a proper style. But the credit is for the gaffer,” said the French goalkeeper.
